The Chinese began to develop the Art of Cloisonné during the 8th Century...
Cloisonné is the term used to describe a method of decorating metal with enamel. Thin wire made of silver, gold, bronze or copper is gilded, then bent to form dozens of tiny cells (cloisons) which are fused to the surface of an object to outline a design. After each cell is filled with enamel colour, the object is then fired and polished, revealing intricate and beautiful designs. Miniature masterpieces created by skilled artisans, each bead,when hand-made, can take up to four hours to produce.
